Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
